What is Compulsory Property Insurance?

Compulsory property insurance is a type of insurance applied to compensate for damage to real estate caused by fire, explosion, natural disasters, and other unforeseen events. According to the legislation of the Republic of Azerbaijan, owners of apartments, private residential houses, and non-residential properties are required to obtain this insurance.


Insurance premiums and coverage amounts for apartments and private houses:

  • Baku – 50 AZN premium / 25,000 AZN coverage

  • Ganja, Sumgayit, Nakhchivan – 40 AZN / 20,000 AZN

  • Other cities and regions – 30 AZN / 15,000 AZN


What risks are covered by compulsory property insurance?

  • Fire – Damage caused by fire to your apartment or property

  • Explosion – Gas leaks and other explosion-related incidents

  • Natural disasters – Earthquakes, floods, storms, and other natural events
